Loss & Grief Counselling

Grief is a natural response to different forms of loss.  There is no set pattern or time frame of grieving as it varies in intensity and duration depending on the kind of loss and the individual's reaction to it. Possible causes include the following:  The passing of a loved one; infertility; miscarriage; separation/divorce; loss of health due to chronic illness; moving; immigration; job redundancy; retirement; children leaving the house ("empty nest") and many more. Grief and Depression both include feelings of sadness but with grieving the sadness are experienced in a wave-like pattern normally in response to specific situations or events. While everyone finds their own way to grieve it is important to get support if the emotions are constant and affecting daily functioning.  For more information, please visit the following resource on grief to determine if you would like to seek additional support.
